It's my favorite pain. Skin needling, sounds masochistic, right? But wow, does it do wonders for your skin. I don't know about you, but I hate people trying to sell me things. I'm not a good consumer; I don't buy something as soon as someone says, "Yes, this is for you," or holds a shiny new life in front of my eyes. There's always a catch, right? Or it just doesn't work. Well, I was super skeptical when I was 18 in the industry and heard about needling. Now, you're damn well sure you do not, I repeat, do not need skin needling at this age. (Now in my other blog, I will delve a little further into skincare for kids and treatment do's and don'ts.) I remember one teacher saying it was terrible for you, and I just kind of agreed because I trusted her, and I was young and scared of needles. I had the biggest fear of them, so no thanks. Strangely, tattoos were a different ball game, so I was okay with that. Ha, very contradictory. When I started working somewhere with skin needling, I got curious. I walked in on a treatment my boss was performing, and my, my, what a lot of blood (also fear of blood at this point in my life). I slowly crept out of that room, hoping I would never have to perform one of those treatments. When the client finally came out of the room, though, she looked really good. I was shocked. I mean, I didn't expect her to come out of the room looking like she had just been massacred on her face, but maybe a little something. Her skin was a little red, a tiny bit puffed, but really, it just looked luminous and bouncy. A week later, I saw her, and her skin looked like heaven. Glowing, plump, even-toned, like she had reversed her skin to a younger state. I knew I definitely had to learn this technique.

Fast forward 6 months, and I got to learn with DP dermaceuticals. In my biased opinion, one of the best skin needle devices with fantastic training and knowledgeable teachers. I was indeed nervous to perform my first skin needle, which I needed to complete my training. Lots of theory first, of course. After completing my first treatment on one of the therapists and passing (yay), I started doing treatments on my clients and myself. My first-ever treatment was from another therapist to complete her training. Now, the thing about me is I like to say yes to anything, even if it's painful. I never like to show weakness, so on the outside, I looked cool, calm, and collected, but that wasn't the case in my mind. A little panic was going on, my palms were sweaty, "knees weak, arms were heavy." Sorry, as soon as I see sweaty palms written anywhere or someone saying it, I immediately think of Eminem's hit song.

Back to the needling, she started with the meso-glide, which is something we place beforehand to provide extra slip to the skin, and most importantly, we choose active ingredients to be penetrated as a direct channel into the skin. Things like hyaluronic acid, retinol, vitamin C, B, acids as well. The first strokes on my forehead. "Um, is that it?" I was thinking. Worried for nothing! Like tiny little scrapes on the skin, the needles oscillate at about 200 a second. I mean, not painless, of course, but very manageable. My skin was super weak at the time, with little hormonal breakouts on my jaw, and just very sensitive and red around the cheeks. So with needling, we can go at different depths, depending on the skin and how many treatments you've had. The lowest you can go is 0.2mm. For most people, this won't even draw blood, but for my thin and damaged skin from all my childhood party antics (this is actually why I started needling my skin so early), it drew blood and was as deep as we could go on me. Straight after treatment, my skin felt tight and sunburnt because my body had started its healing response, and of course, I had thousands of tiny little micro punctures in the skin.

Straight after, we placed a hyaluronic mask over the treated area. This feels blissful after the needling, like a cool breeze on a hot summer's day. This also reduces a lot of the redness from the area. I was still pink after, but we placed something called vitamin-rich repair and the magic cover recover, which is antibacterial, has peppermint for cooling, and best of all, is tinted. So hot damn, my skin looked good. After a week, my skin was the most luminous it has ever been in its life. My first love. I was hooked like a moth to a flame.
Notice, thicker, plumper skin, even skin tone, luminous skin. Even though I have 3 pimples my skin looks healthy.

I did as many treatments as I could, and my skin started to get more plump. I could go much deeper with the needling, up to 1.5mm. This is the depth where you can actually start to see changes as you're hitting the basal layer of the skin, the innermost layer where new cells are created. How needling works is your body thinks it has had a massive attack and calls all of its guys to come fix the area, which is your collagen and new cells. But since there isn't a lot of damage, we get a massive influx of all the good stuff to enhance what is already there and to repair things like pigment, scarring, acne, fine lines, pore size, skin tone evenness, stretch marks, texture. You can also go over your eyelids with this treatment, which is amazing as this area can get very thin as we age. I'm prone to acne, so I've managed to fight it back with needling, supplements, probiotics, three times now. My aim is to continue once a month to receive full anti-aging benefits as I age. Our collagen starts to deplete after 25. Skin needling can replace up to a year's worth of lost collagen in one treatment. I think this is definitely something you should be implementing into your routine for looking after your skin. Aging is fine, but you can age with grace and as slowly as treatment and added vitamins, supplements, Neo face gym sculpt massage permit. I will create other blogs informing you on how those can enhance your skin and whole-body health. Below I shall out myself with an old photo.
Notice the thin, dry, prematurely aged skin. At the time I was going through a stage of wanting to fly with my eyelashes, I hadn't even drunk any red bull.

After numerous treatments, my skin now just keeps a luminous glow
